What a lovely zoo we have in Copenhagen

There is something refreshingly honest about CPH Zoo, a lovingly humanist, scientific and rational approach to things: We do things in the best possible ways for the animals because we respect and care about them; we do so on the basis of knowledge and scientific research; we are willing to listen and possibly change our attitudes if new knowledge or good arguments come up.

Now, this is what the world should be like!

[the following is my own translation]:

Journalist : “You didn’t spin anything when you were publishing this news?”

Zoo director Steffen Stræde: “No, not at all. We simply did not. We were obviously ready for the debate. But there is much good in being open and honest. We don’t use spin, we have the backbone to stand up for what we do. Even if it is sensitive. Throughout the giraffe matter, not one single counterargument held good. And I do not say that to be arrogant: the moment there is another serious suggestion for what we can do differently, we will of course listen .”
